My guess is the ballast died so they just put an incandescent in there...

I dont even think that light is original to the pole the way they installed it. It's literally Taped On!

Now that you mentioned it, I think so too. Reguardless, this is crazy and those people Boston has in charge of the lights are apparently unlicenced.

That refractor is attached using strapping, a rusty screw and electrical tape.

Tacky installation, but the globe looks nice, instead of a yardblaster I would just convert it to CLEAR MV unless it was too damaged, then I would put up a good l' yardblaster like I said before.

Yardblasters aren't exactly made for roadway lighting.
