Nah that is just dirt. This thing had lots of dead bugs in it. I cleaned it out enough and vaccumed. There was no sign of bird or anything in this, it was pretty clean inside other then the bugs.
If it did it may have been removed by the lineman in order to sucessfully disconnect the fixture. When the old M-250R2 in front of my house had a birds nest in the refractor, they left the nest right under the light in the middle of the street. At first, they just changed the refractor for a FP one and lamp (they left the old PC in). The light worked great the first night but then it didn't work at all. i never understood why either. It worked fine with a birds nest (dispite the lamp cycling) and it worked fine for just ONE day after they fixed it. Anyways, after that they just put up a new M-250R2. Most of the time they just change out the light anyways...
So they actually did fix the light before it got replaced? I think the policy most places have is that if they have to go back to the light they change the fixture no matter what. I've seen cyclers relamped only to have the ballast or ignitor fail a few days or weeks later, leading to the fixture being replaced.
Yep they fixed it at first. From what I saw, they gave it a new lamp and refractor but they oddly left the old PC in. Another thing odd was that the PC was blue. Those weren't used on 120V lights.
It's adjustable; my M-400 has a similar version of that socket mount. You loosen (not remove) the two screws on the sides of the socket track and then pop it into the spot you want. I'll post a pic of my M-400's socket holder to show you what I mean if you'd like...
That's the thing, this one is NOT that way. The other OVX has the adjustable socket. This one the metal goes in the way and won't let the socket go any further in. It has three screws holding it in instead of one like my other OVX, and the metal is too big and there are two screws on one side. The metal is like a U, and the sides of the U hit the reflector where the socket is positioned right now.
Hmm. Judging by the pic, if you mount the socket on the other side of the bracket and put the part of the bracket that's away from the reflector towards it. That is if it fits that way...
This one the socket is as far in as it can go. The metal holding the socket isn't adjustable. It's odd... Why is it that way?
This is a non-adjustable socket.
