Streetcar Island Warning Flasher
|
Here's a shot of an incandescent flasher and downlight assembly for a streetcar island. Streetcar islands are mainly used here on busier roads or when the streetcar run on it's own right of way otherwise standard roadside stops are used.
Note the blanked off section on the flasher, I believe they might have flashed in a wigwag pattern a long time ago since newer stops only have a single section flasher. The downlight uses a coated HPS and is either 35, 50, or 70w.

A lot of older signs from the 70s here were worded but most have since been replaced with symbol signs. I know of some old "RIGHT LANE MUST EXIT" "NO U TURN", "THIS LANE ENDS", "NO STOPPING", "BRIDGE ICES FIRST", miss outs still up though.
