This 400W MV OV-15 is in perfect condition, PC and all. Just needs 240V of power and a good home. Well, maybe a new PC too since this one looks... deformed...
its a OV-400...... also the PC looks like Sunswitch from the 60s and they are much taller in height.....I see those on Westinghouse NEMA heads around here still working sometimes
The few metal poles with PCs in the lights all had these tall white PCs. The OV-400 were only used on the metal poles from the main gate until the arch with one M-400 split door stuck in that string. After this light is a OV-25, M-400R2, M-400, M-400, M-400 split door, M-400 split door, and then another OV-400 on a truss arm on a wood pole. after that, most of the lights besides a few OV-25 and M-400 are vandalized.
Most likely. Narragansett Electric was very keen on replacing the lamp and PC together that way they could tell the age of the lamp by the year on the PC. On the other hand, I reported many burned out lights at a local interchange to NGrid numerous times a couple of months back. They finally got around to relamping most of them and guess what? They didn't change the PCs!!! About half are dayburners too. Even new replacement fixtures have the PC from the previous light which was a dayburner on all but one. That's beyond stupidity IMO. It makes me wonder if NGrid ran out of PCs until next month. Still, you'd think they'd use common sense and wait until they got ample PCs to do the job. I guess it doesn't matter since the lights aren't metered (they just estimate the kWh usage per light like they do with wood pole lights).
yep every cobrahead in the park is 400W MV. The two NEMAs are either 175W or 250W MV as they have ED28 lamps in them. It pretty much is a OV-15 just the name is different because it's 400W.
I'm going to try as hard as i can to get at least a couple of lights. I won't be able to keep any though. I'd have to give them all away if I were to get one which is good news for you guys but not for me.
I think the hardest part of getting these is getting my parents to let me try get them. Then I'd have to contact the state which is another big delema since I don't have any connections with RIDOT or NGrid or the state itself. Whenever I email someone from RIDOT I get an automated email saying that person is on vacation.
UPDATE: This light is no more. Pole and everything, gone. Foundation too. No signs that this light ever existed. I'm really bummed since this was a perfect light with a nice tall white Ripley too.
