Here's a lone merc in Cranston, RI. I don't remember the street name, but it is right by Mr. T's restaurant, a popular breakfast house my grandpa took us to.
I thought this looked very familiar! Is this an old pic or a recent one? This is on Midwood Street, off of Park Ave. My grandparent's live in the neighborhood across the street from Park Ave. BTW, to get to the OV-10s from this exact spot:
1. Turn around and go the stop sign and take a left onto Park Avenue.
2. At the nearest traffic light, take a left onto Reservoir Avenue.
3. Turn left onto Carlton Street. This is the first street on the left after the HESS Gas Station and before Rte 10.
4. Follow Carlton Street until you reach a stop sign. You've reached Frankfort street.
5. Take a right onto Frankfort street. The OV-10 on the tapered elliptical pole is right on the bridge, which is in eye-view. To reach the secon OV-10 from there:
1. (After taking the right onto Frankfort Street:) Take the last left before the bridge where the first OV-10 is (Molter Street).
2. The second OV-10 (on the wooden pole) is right at the curve. You'll know what I mean when you see it. It's a 45* left turn away from Rte 10. hope you can see them in person.
Cool! Thanks for the directions. I think I would go straight from 95 to 10 west to find the OV-10s. BTW I gotta admit I find it a bit awkward to drive around here because the signage is different from California! If you want we can chat via PM and talk about the lights here.
Well, the problem is that Mike is still under 18 I would need approval from his parents in order to meet up. I'm certainly open to meeting lighting enthusiasts in person and have done so with several different ones and made good friends too.
@ Dave; How's the signage different from Cali? In Ontario we found it a little awkward too. Our car doesn't have Km/h on the speed gauge so we had to wing it and go about the same speed as them. If you're totally stumped on any signs or need directions let me know. Feel free to PM me about any lights around the area too.
@ Andy; That'd be cool though the family and i are starting to get ready for vacation this week since i'm leaving for NH next Sunday. Possibly it can happen though with my parents' permission.
Enjoy it while it lasts! I had a roughly 9 week summer vacation and boy has it flown by! I've done quite a lot. I've repainted the fence with my dad, fixed the shed with my dad, put up a pole in the backyard, partially repainted my new M-250A, visited Joe Maurath, nearly doubled the inventory in my incandescent stockpile, and i will be fixing my cousin's grandma's preheat F40T12 lights (well, that might be when i'm back in school).
The only mercs i see near loon mountian where i stay are GE 175W powr/brackets with astrodome PCs oddly some have 70W HPS tags though they are MV as i've seen them lit at night an they have coated BT28 lamps inside.
I'm going back to the sea coast again. There was a merc that I have a photo of that was extremely dim and am wondering if it was replaced since last year.
