Ballast losses?

Yup, there's 8W of ballast losses (not including the reactive power).

Yep, the ballast loses a few watts, the wasted power is wasted in the form of heat, sound, and vibrations.

So as the ballast ages, will it have more and more losses to due greater vibration if the coils loosen up a bit over time?

I think the loss should stay the same but it gets noisier because the tar potting which muffles the sound hardens and dosen't work as well.
