Toronto gumballs during filming
My brother sent this after arrival in Toronto, Canada - note the tipped-over bus - there is a movie being filmed downtown. The first thing I noticed in the picture were the metal-halide gumball streetlights - a lot of them are already lit, and it doesn't appear to be very dark yet.

In downtown area sometimes less sensitive photocells are used since the city is generally brighter at night and building lights may trigger the PCs. I know in Providence NGrid still uses their energy saving units and some of the lights don't even turn on at night becuase it's too bright. Rolling Eyes

I actually thought the picture looked Toronto before opening it Laughing and yeah a lot of movies are filmed here you can easily tell from looking at the gumballs at the yellow 12-8-8 traffic lights.

The gumballs usually use 3000K MH to simulate the old incandescents which were used until the mid 90s but ocasionally some 4000K lamps sneak in.

When exactly did Toronto go MH? Watching a lot of 90s movies they look downright incandescent!!! So how do you know if they are incandescent or not?

I believe sometime between 1992 and 1996, the original MH lamps used were 3000K lamps which might look incandescent on camera. When they changed from incandescent to MH they also changed the fixtures to new Cooper URBs.
