Replaced Some Lenses...
|
Replaced the hand and man lenses in my CGE ped signal with a nice pair of glass walk/don't walk lenses I found off the bay.
Walk and don't walk signals were used here in Ontario during the late 60s and early 70s. They were replaced with the currently used hand and long stride man symbols in the mid-late 70s when Ontario began switching from text based signs to symbolic signs.

I also like the older incandescent ped signals compared to the newer LED ones. I want one of those fibre optic ped inserts too, I know that they made three versions of them at one point, worded, American symbols, and Canadian symbols.
BTW, I found one of those fibre optic arrows on eBay but it costs $40.
Anyway I don't mind both but I noticed in the past few months they started using a two colour LED that has a incandescent look arrow as opposed to the dotted LED look that two colour arrows here had. That's my favourite type of two colour arrow.
With the pixelated LED modules, i've noticed one row of yellow LEDs with two rows of green (one on each side of the yellow) so the green is twice as bright. That bothers me too. The incandescenty yellow-green arrows are at least similar brightness in the bi-color arrows.
I don't mind one of the incandescent look bi-colour LED arrows though. The pixelated LED arrows here seem to have the same brightness but I'm still not a fan of the pixelated arrow or the ones that use this arrow design as opposed to the squared off arrow.
