Philips PAR-38 dimmable CFL
|
Found this at Home Depot in summer 2007, this has a dimmable ballast and a tri-tube arrangement rather than the typical spiral. It is true programmed-start and dims to around 50% on a cheap triac dimmer. It is an amalgam lamp and has Alto technology so it always starts pinkish-red but the run-up is pretty fast unless you start it in a dimmed setting. As it is a wet-location-rated lamp, I'm using it in the bathroom exhaust fan where I had a heat lamp before, to save energy as the heat lamp wasn't very effective.

For the bathroom it would be cool if it was dimmable AND 6500K!
