The Other Non-Working fixture
|
This one is inline with the other fixture with the mismatched sockets near the pullchain light. this one is a different style. It seems that every single light seems to be a slightly different style. you can see the makeshift drop ceiling that was put in and the water damage done to it. the lights had troffer lenses under them cut to size but my uncle ripped them down. the whole ceiling has to come down to inspect the plumbing and electrical lines. the fixture is held in by NAILS! you can see the nails poking out of the so-called drop ceiling holding up the light. This one has blackened tubes and they appear to also be lifelines looking the the endcaps, though i couldn't see the etches on most of the lamps.
The reason for the messed up looking pic is becuase it came out really dark so i "autocorrected" it and it made it a black and white picture... looks almost like a period correct pixture for when this sort of thing was common (wood grid ceiling with wood wall paneling and recessed lights with lenses). the only thing that ruins it is the blue light coming from outside as dusk arrived.

@ Felipe; yeah i was like "huh?" when this pic turned out the way it did lol. the house was built in the 30s and relocated a few hundred yards when they built Interstate 295 in the 60s. this house is right near where the interstate ends on I-95 in Attleboro. i'd guess they had to repour the foundation but i wonder how they moved the whole house. they have a stained glass hanging light too that they're getting rid of- i get that too. I'll probably install one of those huge globe shaped incandescent lamps that seem to have been common in those huge fixtures.
I'm really familiar with house construction/rennovation (remember me talking about the vapor barrier and insulation in your laundry room?) so I would be involved...being involved with renovations has gotten me my three vintage florescent fixtures...
At some point in the future (AKA a few years down the road when I have my own place) I might be interested in one of these...but that would only work if you had an extra one sitting around that was still for sale...
I wonder if this one has a provision for a third lamp in the middle since the pace is so large. I'd keep it two lamp though...
As for the switch that does nothing, could it be that it was disconnected when a WALL was built OVER that light you linked to?
