Welcome to GoL! I'm also from the GTA and I've seen these before. It's odd that only that street has the curved truss arms in Brampton but they're super common in Quebec.
Plase bear with us as we get the uploading problem resolved in the next few days.
It seems odd since the R47 came out in 1992 which is 3 years after the Model 25 was replaced with the 125 (it was replaced in 1989) so there are probably two reasons why it's there. The first one is that a R47 failed and they stuck a used Model 25 it's place. The other is the stretch used to lit with Model 25s but most failed and got replaced with R47s.
Welcome fellow bramptonion. I instantly recognized where this light is (i must have been here too long).
One thing I can add here is this stretch of curved truss arms used to entirely be fitted with an older luminaire, just I was too young to recall what specific one...
I'm guessing it might have been a mercury lume that got replaced when Brampton when HPS. No clue when though but it seems most other places in the GTA when to HPS between the mid 80s and mid 90s.
hmm. maybe this stretch of road was all mercs and the ITT 25 replaced one of the mercs because it failed or something. then in the 90s the R47s replaced the rest of them?
@Hanging Light. Nice job grabbing a pic with the Model 25 on the long up sweep arm, it's truly a great vintage combo set up, and now a rare sighting in Brampton!
@Hanging Light: I think my comments are jinxing everything D:. I noticed zumming by today too! But wasn't sure it was recently changed as it looks like this would be a 250W HPS, and the current maintenance contractor has only been using AEL 115 for spot replacements, unless... if it's 400W HPS, then that's typical of it being an OVX... great workaround for sharing pics. Also, up the road at the Nanwood intersection, I noticed a new 400W OVX replaced with another one (has the new bare metal shine) LOL. And finally, you know the Centre Street shoeboxes are scheduled for replacement this year right?
The curved trusses are quite rare too and I think only Brampton uses them. Too bad they put a OVX on...well at least it's still drop lens. York Region uses FCO fixtures as spot replacements (which I doubt work well as they're technically supposed to be spaced closer).
Also speaking of replacements, I noticed Mississauga has been replacing a lot of the 70w and 100w HPS fixtures in residential areas with LED over the last year.
These arms are being replaced rapidly now, I came by and some have been replaced with new poles and tapered e arms. At least they moved one of the R47's onto a new pole
Yes theres one pole in particular that they didn't throw a new arm on! It looks ugly now that there are a couple new poles with tapered e-arms in the mix now
