Commercial sign lit by INCANDESCENT bulbs!
|
This strip mall in Corona, CA still uses signs that use incandescent bulbs for backlighting. This sign is empty but it is on the side of a restaurant which is still in business, there are also the same style of signs in the front with the business name on it. Quite a sight in the post incandescent ban era these days. These bulbs appear to be ordinary soft whites you buy in the stores. The bulbs appear to be GE to my eyes. Knowing my experience fixing lights on the job, ordinary bulbs can be a pain to maintain. You are looking into a group replacement of these sign lights every 2-3 months if you use 60w, 120v, 1000 hour bulbs. Of course the problem is solved if you used commercial grade long life bulbs such as Duro-Test, Marvel, Aero-Tech, Newcandescent, or even the new Sylvania Rough Service XL bulbs.

I guess CFLs would work as long as they aren't flashed or anything.
