Induction street light at Restore!
Here is a shell of an AEL 125 with a Philips QL 165w lamp and gear installed. I didn't buy it because the price would give ya a heart attack, it is $100! Also it is 208v so I can't light it easily. The plastic under the induction lamp base looks yellowed so it is obviously used. The lamp can be removed with a half twist, gonna remove it carefully so to not damage the long exhaust tube. The exhaust tube has a piece of long metal that receives the electrons from the copper windings that surround the tube when the lamp is installed. i suppose it is called the antenna. The driver unit is pretty small, like 3 inches wide and 5 inches long. The fixture feels pretty light without the heavy magnetic ballast found in HID versions!

All the 165 watt QL drivers I've seen so far are 208-277 volts. The lower wattages (55, 85) are available as 100-130 volt or 208-277 volt input

I wonder if it was factory induction or if it was a refit. $100 is a bit much for me too but if it was $50 or so I might have considered buying it.

This induction lamp is a Philips QL 165w.
Anyway Philips does not produce these lamps, the activity was sold to QL Company.

it's probably original since AEL uses Advance ballasts and when you order a AEL fixture with the lamp they supply a Philips lamp (and Philips owns Advance). Cooper LED lights have Advance LED drivers too. I think GE and Philips are the only ones who make LED drivers. Not sure about Induction though. I think Philips is investing most of its time into LEDs instead of induction. Philips makes the best ceramic MH lamps out there though.
