Breaker pannel not even shut securely but the tree branch held it shut, the pannel with the contactor was secured with one screw, so I suppose anyone who has knowledge could mess with it
oh yeah poles are midding handhole covers all the time here lol. Here with the freeway lights with individual PCs, each light has it's own manhole next to it with ELECTRICAL embossed on it. it's smaller than a sewer cover but bigger than a water main. So the handholes on those lights aren't used. I'm assuming the ELECTRICAL manholes contain cut-out fuses for each pole but I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure the new relay-controlled lights don't have them.
I've seen those ELECTRICAL manholes too, a few years ago there was an issue with them here, some of them were leaking stray voltage during the winter which ended up shocking people's dogs.
I've also seen ones with TRAFFIC on them for the signal lights. As for the missing manhole covers, I've seen them strap on a curved metal plate (using that Band-It stuff) over the handhole or cover it up with lots of electrical tape.
We use ELECTRICAL manholes for signals too. Occasonally they'll say SIGNAL on them. As for missing handhole covers, they use these which are plastic and secured by a hose clamp it appears. A lot of times they leave them open though.
Maybe I'm paranoid but I always avoid stepping on manhole covers for just that reason!
I once heard that someplace people/dogs were getting shocks from wiring underground which was believed to be abandoned but it actually wasn't...
Yeah that happened here (though you might have heard of it happening elsewhere). A woman was walking her dog and the dog just froze and tipped over after stepping on a manhole cover in Providence.
I tend to avoid the ELECTRICAL manhole covers but the SEWER and DRAIN manholes can't shock you.
