I've yet to figure out what the original lumes on the these poles were. They were installed sometime in the early-mid 80s but the AEL 125 only came out in 1988 or 1989 so there must have been something else on these poles.
the second visable light on the right is a GE M-400. they pretty much look like twins though lol. Hmm. In the 80s there was the ITT 25, GE M-400 split door (probably not what was here) and there's the Canadian OV-25. Did you guys have the OVM and OVS up there?
Yeah a few GE M-400's made it into the picture. The Originals I believe are Model 25's going by this photo. It seems an area with the Jersey barriers and Truss lights would have originally had Model 25's. The 401 between Renforth and 410/403 were originally Model 25's
Yeah, I think part of the QEW through Mississauga had AE 25s too. The ones on concrete poles replaced merc Powerlites but the ones on steel poles are new installs.
It seems MTO switched from Powerlite to AE in the 80s and then to GE in the late 80s (OV-25s were used in the early 90s though) and to AEL/Cooper in the mid 2000s.
Yeah there's a difference between the truss lights on the QEW and begining of the Gardiner expressway. Gardiner has the Concrete, Mississauga has the Steel poles. That flyover at Evan's has quite a few 25's. I noticed theres 1 B2255 at the begining of the 427 ramp IIRC
Yeah, I noticed there at least three different type of MTO truss poles in use. There's the concrete ones from the 60s and 70s, the round steel ones from the early 80s? and the octagonal steel ones from the mid 80s to mid 90s.
Oh and the 401 used mostly concrete truss poles except for the section between 403 and 427, a section on the westbound lanes just west of Leslie, and eastbound near Warden. Now the truss poles on the 401 are mostly gone but there's some concrete ones left in the MTO yard at Kennedy, and three steel ones at the Brimley exit.
Yeah the only concrete ones are really only on the gardiner and a few parts of the QEW now. I like the round steel ones though there's 1 at the 401 and Dixie. It even holds a fortran pedestrian signal.
It's likely one of those I'd guess.
