A Ruleta in its sequence. Queens, New York. 1968.
|
A Ruleta traffic signal here from the borough of Queens in New York City. Circa 1968. The traffic signal shows the overlap, in which both signal indications are lit momentarily prior to when the green signal indication terminates. This was a form of caution for countless two-section traffic signals throughout New York City after the year 1952. Prior to that, the original form was what is known as a "dark out period," in which signal indications appear unlit for a handful of seconds before the red signal indication then appeared lit.
