Maybe a big recessed can light in a gas station canopy or something? I heard some gas stations had incandescent recessed cans instead of HID or fluorescent. Could also have been used in a mogul based recessed can indoors. I'm thinking it was probably used for a recessed can in a commercial application though.
Never seen a gas station here with incandescent in the canopy. I think over here, by the time they started using canopies at gas stations, the lights were already either fluorescent or recessed MV.
Yeah, come to think of it I remember seeing pics of 60s era department stores and auditoriums that had huge (they looked like they were at least 1' wide) recessed cans. Perhaps those used 300w mogul based floodlight bulbs.
Me neither. Here there are some older gas stations with no canopies with drop dish shoeboxes but they're far and few between. My high school's auditorium has huge recessed cans but i don't know what kind of lights are in them. ne time i was there for a play back in elementary school and there were "huge bulbs" that were A-shaped and i think mogul base. I think they retrofitted them to LED but the cans are so big I'm sure a good amount of light is trapped in the fixture lol.

@Nimo, yeah but this one is a 300w R40 lamp, it says so right on the box.
