NGrid replaced all the MV lights on Sweet Ave, Bristol Ave, and London Ave in Pawtucket with HPS M-250R2s. I guess this was a small-scale MV mass-changeout.
Yeah I was angry/shocked/upset to see that they annihilated three whole streets but yeah at least they're not LEDs. And the M-250R2 is a nice looking light too but it can't be compared to the lights these replaced.
yeah IMO it would make sense to keep servicing the mercs until they start testing LEDs but whatever floats their boat... I don't think NGrid plans to test LEDs any time soon anyways. They're too cheap and the street light biz is hurting them as it is. in MA cities and towns have been buying the streetlights from NGrid but up until recently that wasn't allowed in RI for whatever reasons but now it is. So far no municipality has taken ownership of their lights but when that happens i guess there will be a good variety...
Ahh no worries. How long ago was this done? I was over my grandparents' house back in like March and the lights were still mercs.
Fortunately Hughes and Oakland are still mercs. I had reported most of the lights on Hughes and Oakland so they have fairly bright lamps. so no need to replace them any time soon! i reported them all so that they'd get fresh lamps before they stopped fixing the mercs. glad i reported them when i did... I never got around to reporting the lights on Sweet, Bristol, or London though.
Ahh I see. Wow I must've seen these mercs just before they were replaced. I saw them at dusk and they were pretty dim. You can tell that i have been reporting the lights on Oakland and Hughes since they're much brighter than these were.
I'm guessing you didn't score any of them? NGrid does work at night so unfortunately I'm fast asleep when they replace lights. Plus I live in Cranston not Pawtucket lol. But i really hope I can get some of the mercs on my grandparents' street when they come down. I grew up looking up at those lights. They caught my interest because they were "white glow" lights instead of "soda glow" (in reference to Fanta Orange. it's actually pretty ironic that i called them that since I had no idea they were "high pressure SODIUM"! I used to call the NEMA heads in North Attelborough "soda cans" lol.
You wouldn't want to keep them? I unfortunately don't have any room for more lights. I'm getting a couple lights this summer and after that no more street lights. I'll have to build a shed or something lol.
