yeah here they all have to have timers at new intersections. I find them useless anyways becuse when the hand starts flashing, that means continue crossing if you've started but don't start crossing. And the hand flashes long enough to ensure that you make it across before the solid hand comes on so I see no point. And if an argument is made for the timer, than there's no need for the flashing hand. Just continue showing the man while the tmer is on and then go to the hand once the timer had stopped.
No one here uses the ped signals anyways. They either jay walk or cross at crosswalks without using the ped signals. I'm guilty of that myself. It's easier and faster to just use your own judgement and bolt across the road when there's a gap in traffic. You need to pay close attention when with a walk signal. So long as you're in a crosswalk, cars have to yield to peds regardless of what the ped signal reads.
A lot of hand symbols here have dead LEDs because they're always on because the ped signals are never used lol.
Yeah they have proven them to cause more accidents because people are taking more risks now. I agree with you totally . I jay walk quite a bit too but within reason. Theres a intersection nearby me that has 2 of the walk hands are burned out already and and 2 faded timers and 1 burned out hand. They were installed in January
Oh wow! sounds like some cheapo LED modules are being used up there lol. Here the timers are off when they'renot used (so they're always off) except on busy, busy roads that automatically cycle the ped signals too.
Ive seen more LED module burnouts this year than since LED was retrofitted in Brampton. Its the newer ones that keep burning out. Yeah those timers are only causing poor judgement around here
Anchor bolts, rebar, and handwell silos have been dumped at Sandalwood & Richevale, Kennedy & Richevale, and I assume here too (Kennedy and Wexford/Notre Dame).
I saw the Richevale's marked for upgrade in the online listing randomly one day. I agree, the concrete bases are all in tact and not even leaning like usual replacement candidates. Sandalwood/Richevale set up looks the most beat IMO though.
I wonder what factor is the most worrisome for the city to justify these replacements.
Notre Dame and Kennedy is probably the cleanest old CGE intersection. I don't think the Kennedy ones are necessary. The sandalwood one has lost all its Eagle Mark IV's and eagle equipment now except for the 3rd signal on the north east corner. Except its a newer eagle than the mark IV's. Maybe thats why they left them as CGE's hangers. There isn't much good at the sandalwood and richvale intersection anymore. There 2 hanger signals that are neat and the R37 with no PC.

I remember when there were 4 R37's at sandalwood & richevale with no PC's, long time ago.
UPDATE: a kabota was plopped at sandalwood & richevale, utility companies marked their territory with their little flags and spray paint. Winter arrived, and snow covered everything, then it got warm, snow melted, and the kabota vanished. Materials still dumped here untouched. For some reason new signal installation often starts when winter begins in this city. The worst of winter begins now.
UPDATE: A new replacement intersection signal set now stands next to these. It follw suit with nearby signal replacement projects consisting of AEL AUTOBAHN cobras and fortran plumbizer mount signal heads. The two cobras on the right seems to not be present in the new signal set design.
It would be nice if they would use something other than plumbized fortrans for a change. I hope they start bringing back Hanger signals again at some point, but its unlikely. The last new hanger install in Brampton I know of is a Hwy 50 and Steeles. RIP to the CGE's and OV-15's

I wonder if so many LEDs burned out this year because of the extra long and cold winter we had.
I think its possible we hit some absolutely frigged temperatures

Those are all good intersectons with CGE's and OV-15's. They are in really good shape too.
I never knew about the sandalwood and richvale. I never saw that on the 2014 construction listing
I wonder what factor is the most worrisome for the city to justify these replacements.

New signals will likely be Fortran. Pedestrian signals will be Fortran with rectangular mounters. Streetlights AEL Autobahns
