The MTO seems to like using the standard sized pole even for tiny pedestrian signals. Laughing Most places use a much thinner and shorter pole for them.

Yeah I was like huh? I figured maybe they did that in case they wanted to add another mast but since this intersection has water behind the guardrail, a 4-way intersection isn't possible without a huge bridge over Gerogian bay lol

Yeah here in Brampton at every 410 intersection they only use single section. The 407 ETR here uses double sections again with timers. Most of the older parts of the 407 ETR in Brampton use Double Fortran or Eagle but they were originally incandescent. I don't think I know of any MTO freeways that have Double sections with timers in York region or Peel.

Yeah a lot of the roads up in northern Ontario like Huntsville, Parry Sound, Barrie, Orillia have a lot of setups like this. Most of the time there are no pedestrian signals though

I haven't seen a single intersection without ped signals. even ones with no crosswalks or sidewalks lol. Some like the ones in midland don't even have buttons, they go automatically with the vehicle signals. Never seen that before. i mean, i've seen ped signals go automatically but they still had buttons.

Seems like everyone lives in that area, I'm like the only one out here. xD But yeah, that is kind of odd, using a huge pole like that.

Does that pedestrian signal look like a regular traffic signal housing? I mean it looks like one to me, but it might be a special one.

I live in Rhode Island not Canada. Razz I'm on vacation. Very Happy Coming home tomorrow though. Sad The back is a regular 12" signal housing but the door is different.

Heh lol, we do have a few members in the GTA though. Razz

I assume GTA stands for Great Toronto Area and not Grand Theft Auto xD
streetlight98   [Aug 24, 2014 at 02:10 AM]
Yes. Razz Laughing

That's why I don't really use acronyms. So if I were going to say Greater Toronto Area I would just say Greater Toronto Area. xD Or whatever.
