Ah yeah this is an M-400A because of the screw and latch on the Powr/Door. I'm assuming the ballast is mounted to the door? If you can get a shot of the inside I can probably help you a little more.
You're right actually! I don't think these sprinklers get used though...this 2 acre place has all sorts of dis-used plumbing as it was once an orchard...(and still is to a certain extent).
Well, they should get rid of that cheap homeowner grade Orbit brand sprinkler and put a Rain Bird shrub adapter and nozzle on there. Lol ok I'm getting off topic. The main focus of the picture is the M400A.
Oh really? I didn't know that. Is it the minerals in the well water that do that? I have city water but some of the older homes here have well water. I personally don't like well water. i don't really trust it lol. With city water it goes through all these crazy tests and filtration while a home well probably isn't checked often so who knows how clean the water really is. Plus all the well water I've tasted has had a bit of a bite to it if you get what I mean. (a bad taste, tastes like crap lol)
Yeah and anytime I pass by a yard that has sprinklers running supplied with well water it smells bad. But yeah well water is more corrosive. The house across the street from my parents house I have helped her with maintaining her sprinklers many many times before and there's been a few times I have taken a sprinkler apart after replacing it with a new one because the old one would stick up out of the ground when the system turned off, and the "stainless steel" spring inside was completely rusted away.
wow even stainless steel got eaten up? Yeah everyone that has well water says that it's the best water out there. To each their own but once they taste city water or bottled water i think they'll change their opinion lol. Tap water period has to be cold for me to like it. Even bottled water I don't love "room temperature" but I'll drink it that way. Do not like room temperture tap water though. I like it either refrigerated or straight from the faucet.
Yeah but it was just a cheap sprinkler from cheapo depot. But still. If it was stainless steel it still shouldn't have rusted. For drinking, I prefer bottled water period lol. I tried tap water a couple weeks ago and didn't care for it.
Yeah tap water really depends on where you live. Tap water in my area tastes almost just like bottled water. I live right near the reservior and the water is very clean with rules strictly enforced (no one's allowed in or near the water, even to fish or whatever) so minimal treatment is necessary. Bottled water is actually just tap water that the bottling company just puts through their own treatment system lol. Poland Spring says they get their water from Maine. No... lol
I used to love buying purified water because of the taste. But now I prefer buying the spring water instead. The Zephyrhills brand we sometimes buy says it comes from springs here in Florida.
Yeah Poland Spring and Nestle Pure Life is the same water, just a different label (same bottle shape too lol). The Poland Spring bottles say Nestle Waters North America Inc. right on them lol. Poland spring used to be it's own company but I think Nestly bought them out like how Crouse-Hinds used to be its own company, which made traffic signal controll equippement, until Cooper bought them out and used the name for their street light line and now uses the name for it's hazardeous location lighting line.

These sprinklers would be supplied by well water although their house has city water. Originally even the house was on well water though. Yeah it would most likely be fed by PVC but anything metal might deteriorate faster if it is more corrosive/acidic.
I find tap water tastes different in different areas and sometimes even has a slight coloration. Where I live our water is filtered/treated/chlorinated just like normal although during the summer months it will get a very noticeable yellowish tint, sometimes to the point of "SOMEBODY didn't flush" LOL. I've heard the "yellow" looking tap water is better than the "blue stuff" as far as bacteria is concerned.
Another town I frequent puts a lot of chlorine in their water and after being home for awhile and going there and drinking their water I can notice it at first but then get used to it. Someone I know said they can tell on different days of week how intense it is taste-wise since they chlorinate on a certain day of the week. Similarly, in CA, where the above M-400A1 Powr/Door is located, it tastes totally different.
Anyone had the experience of drinking out of copper plumbing and the water in the glass looks "cloudy" at first, then it slowly clears up? My late mother's house was that way. I think that area had hard water though since the house had a water softener although when it developed a leak my mother just had a plumber bypass it with one of those same flexible copper connectors you hook a water heater up with.
That house also had very LOUD plumbing! In a 4-story house (1 being garage though and 4 being loft) you could hear it very clearly in the 3rd floor bathroom if the water was running in either of the outside hose bibs or if the washer in the garage was filling. In both cases pressure also was nil up there while that was happening. The toilet in the garage bathroom (which was almost NEVER used) once started running and my mom was pretty sure it was shut off...so couldn't figure out WHY water should be running! Even after calling a plumber and the water company. Finally she decided to check LOL. I even told her on the phone that with her plumbing being loud even the little bit of a toilet running might sound like a fire hydrant going full blast.
My house, however, is all PEX. I can hear it running a little but but nowhere near as much as copper. Only copper is around my hot water tank (A regular 50 gallon electric water heater but without the element hooked up and instead heated with coils inside a small diesel stove. It has to be copper there for obvious reasons.
On my boat though the water tank has some major rust inside. I hosed it out quite a bit this year and left water running through it for a couple days and it tastes fine but we have a filter on it too...it looks similar to your average vacuum cleaner filter but is not reusable.
As for the M-4000A1, it's my godparents' but might be mine someday.
