I don't know how new but the year on it is 2014. It looks really nice on the Evolve. I just bought a M400R3 off ebay 400 watt PSMH new surplus now I don't know if I should put it up, the Evolve or wait for the AEL 125, 175 watt PSMH??
Yeah but I might want more to look at but the Evolve is pretty cool looking, A nice big shiny cobrahead with deep glass lens, Mmmmmm.... BUT!! then again I do like the Evolve. Lol.... HELP!
Decisions decisions lol, yeah the M-400R3 or the 125 will be more to look at and watch warm up,the Evolve will just come on instantly. Then again the Evolve will use less power.... I know I'm not much help.
Now I'm more undecided as ever , The R3 came today but then I realized that thing is just overwhelmingly BIG. It actually has an Advance ballast in it for PSMH. I may just wait for the 125 and then decide it or the Evolve. Of course I'v never had an LED up before.
I'll add something to your luminaire mounting decision. I find the deep refractor of the AEL 125 to leave quite a spotty pattern where it illuminates, I might even say it inefficiently distributes light. Now I mostly notice this at lower mounting heights, so consider that. Is this a known refractor issue of the 125?
I have a few of these controls myself. The plastic housing on these is also thicker than the normal DTL controls. I'm planning on installing these on my autobahn but I'm waiting until I make all the electrical connections more permanent.
I'm not sure of that being an issue I haven't really examined any in service. the one I did see was about 40 feet off the ground at 250 watts and it had a rather concentrated amount of light not much beam spread. Yeah I notice that the plastic does seem more robust I'm just worried about it fading to a puke green color. If that happens I'll put the Ripley long life control on it it has a stabilized plastic cover. I wasn't surprised by it's size I knew how big it was and to be honest it being in the garage with a lot of clutter it seemed bigger than it did when I took it out to the building. It's actually a nice sized fixture and I do have a couple M400A3's
