Bulky Pedestrian Signal (gone)
I came across this old pedestrian signal that looked much older than even the CGE pedestrian signals that are still in use today. Toronto converted them all by 2010 to LED with countdown timers. These stayed until 2012.

Interesting, I wonder if you have a Streetview of them. They might actually be Crouse Hinds Type M or R signals. We have a handful of them. They probably originally came with flat glass DONT WALK/WALK lenses but they were swapped out with the CGE style symbol lenses in the 70s.

Here is the streetview

I looked at the type M and R and the M is probably it. I never knew we had Crouse Hinds pedestrian signals in Downtown Toronto

Yeah, I think Downtown Toronto and parts of the suburbs had Crouse Hinds Type Ms back in the day. I think the ones at Bay and Queen and Lawrence and Victoria Park are still up.

It seems the one at Vic park and Lawrence is the very last one

Yeah, I noticed the one at Bay and Queen got replaced with a Fortran.

Wow, that's a rare find. I didn't know there were anything older than the CGEs left in Mississauga. Belleville had a bunch of those Eagles downtown, still incandescent too. I wonder if they were still there...

I recently discovered another Crouse Hinds Type M in the city, Streetview here. I believe the one at VP/Lawrence is still there so I guess there's two left in the city.

Hey did you know about this CGE signal with the eagle style visors? Right here

Interesting find, I wonder if the original visor got damaged and they used whatever was available on the truck that day.
