This is the old US 99 in Fresno, and the overpass was built in 1948. The overpass was torn down a few years ago due to concrete cancer, but the highway itself, now known as the Golden State Highway, remains today, along with the overpass in the background. Some of these old poles remain, now with various HPS fixtures.
Here's an old Streetview of the I-195 bridge itself. Those double-guy tapered ellipticals are way cool! The only one I know of now is On Rte 2 near Oaklawn Ave. That stretch of Rte 2 has lots of ancient poles from long ago! Since they're aluminum they've lasted all these years, though the ones that get knocked down are replaced with either truss poles or tapered ellipticals, whatever NGrid feels like putting up. And that's if they decide to replace the pole. A lot of times they don't even bother.
They fixed up all the lights on Rte 2 all nice a year or two ago. Now sections are going out again. I don't understand why the old Narragansett Electric freeway lights always have wiring issues. They ALL do. And NGrid is too lazy to stay on top of it. NGrid actually rewired a lot of the Rte 37/I-295 interchange this spring and the interchange lights were almost 100% working! (though they didn't replace any but two poles!) Now though, entire ramps are dark. I just don't get it. The few Blackstone Valley Electric freeway installations NEVER have wiring issues. They only ever need lamps and PCs (though by the time NGrid ever gets around to servicing them there are several fixtures with dead ignitors since NGrid just sucks at lighting maintenance lol).
NGrid took down it's online street light outage form this spring/summer and left a note saying to call customer service if there are any outages. So I haven't bothered to report any lights out. So there are more and more fixtures burning out on wood poles.
