Spotted some gumball/shoebox hybrids at a arena in Toronto. These might have orignally been MV but they currently use MH. 175w from my guess. They use a similar glass refractor as the McGraw Edison mini gumballs.

Half of that housing is probably for the reflector but even still that's a big light lol.

I'd expect these three times higher on that wall.

IMO it doesn't really seem like Overkill.....even though i'd expect something more along the lines of a Wallpack/Floodlight....or prehaps a bucket style Area Light (Nema Head or Not)

I'd imagine that these are the shoebox version of this. They do look a bit odd mounted low like this.
