My GE PF-400 Powerflood
|
Here's a lightly used GE PF-400. It does look like it was installed (some marks on the mounting bracket, which is folded up behind the light to allow it to stand up) but it's very clean. It was wired with some utility wire (Tony, that two-wire black cord with the white tracer that you use at work!) and has lots of scratches down to the bare metal on the back side and on the front at the two sides below the lens (the yellow colored spots). This thing is one BRIGHT son of a gun! Wouldn't be quite as bad outdoors but inside it's overkill big time lol.
This is a Connecticut Power & Light fixture BTW. Made in 1993. It's funny, I always pictured this flood light as being one of the more compact ones out there, though I knew it had to be pretty big but seeing this in person compared to a M-250R2 really shows its size. Also, there's no latch to open it up. There's a screw instead. Not a huge deal but I think I'd prefer the screw. Not sure what NGrid uses (screw or latch that is) but now they use Cooper floods.
This particular flood light by GE has been discontinued, so while this flood isn't "rare" by any means, it is in limited supply now. GE doesn't make any HID flood lights anymore.
No plans for this guy other than to keep it in storage. While this wouldn't be particularly pleasant for yard lighting, I may consider mounting it in the future. I also have my NOS 1980s Appleton 400W MV flood light. I'd like to get an older style GE Powerflood (the 400W Mv size and 1000W MV size). the 1000W MV ones are so big you can fit a drop lens M-250R2 INSIDE one with the guts removed. Like having a large microwave on a pole lol. This guy is pretty heavy but for a 400W light it's not.
