Cree XSP LED sprawl
|
Over the past few weeks here, all the Peel Regional owned roads are changing over to Cree LED's rapidly. What all the different areas that have been changed over have in common is that the City owned streetlights haven't been touched almost at all. My guess is the City owned lights will be done at another time. This section of road was half Cree'd today for about just under a KM. Its still a work in progress but by the looks of it they'll be back again this week to finish it.

RIDOT did a lot of conversions like this, doing one side at a time. Makes for some interesting comparisons!
The north part of Harris County and south Montgomery County, Tx still has HPS streetlights and or believe it or not, maybe MV streetlights as well. But part TX 249 is converted to LED (especially the high masts), but if go south of TX 249, all of it is HPS, with some high masts have flood lights on them as a "z" pattern, which you'll see those at FM 1960.
Most TXDOT roadways now have LED streetlights. US 290 has been converted to LED, which is the Philips Hadco RX2s they now have out, but keep going south of US 290, there HPS high masts and the six flood light "z" type pattern, which is the older version than the 12 flood light "z" type pattern high masts. Also Grandparkway (TX 99) is also going to LED streetlights as well. With those Cooper Navion, and Verdeons, yet there still HPS streetlights in Grandparkway (TX 99) still being used which is the GE M400R2 FCO Version. These are still being used in the Grandparkway.
I like the RX2's. I don't find them terrible looking fixtures, its too bad that they dont have LED retrofit kits for most lights out there today. Verdeons have got to be the ugliest LED fixture for roadway. I can think of a few others that are almost or are as bad. Yeah we have LED highmasts here too. I figured Highmasts would be the very last fixtures to go LED. MTO here hasn't really started any LED work on the 400 series highways yet.
@m@, I seen Langley adding Crees at Kennedy at Chruch st and Queen St from Dixie to 410.
Its based on how many posts you make in the forum.
I think MTO is doing some LED tests near 401 and 427 and new installs since mid 2016 have been LED so they're probably considering conversion sometime in the near future. Toronto also seems to be considering conversion too.
