Unique configuration. These are one of the lights of choice in Mississauga, ON Canada. Not great looking, but better than most, especially the waffle they also make. But 230W? What's that equivalent to, 400W HPS?
Considering RIDOT used 280W LEDs to replace 400W HPS, I would say 230W is a suitable 400W HPS replacement. For 1000W MH you're looking at maybe 300-350W LED and even higher for 1000W HPS. LEDs are different than other light sources in that higher wattages do not yield higher LPW than lower wattages (For example, a 400W MV lamp is 23000L while four 100W MV lamps is only 16000L. But LED lights are just made up of small diodes of the same wattage. Higher wattage means more diodes, so the lumens per watt of each diode never changes. You just add diodes.) So LED retrofits will actually save the most money when replacing lower-output "legacy" light sources like HID.
Now I see @streetlight98. Now I was wondering what is the equivalency of 750w HPS, and MH, and 700w MV? My guess is probably around 245w LED or 294w LED, is this correct? I just wana know.
