I have seen some GE M400A current generation versions that are only 100w HPS. I bet it is almost empty inside the large fixture with a tiny choke, lol!
yep. The current M-400A comes in wattages as low as 100 and the M-400 as low as 70 watts!!! I would think the lamp would be dwarfed in the giant reflector. Imagine a 70w HPS M-1000. A good portion of the light wouldn't reach the ground because the optical wouldn't be small enough.
True, but GE offers series M-250A2 and that's a small sized fixture. I've never seen a 150w HPS light used here, so i think it's cool to see 150, 200, and 310 watt HPS lights. All they use here is 50, 100, 250, and 400. Thyey don't offer 70w on the list, but one of RI's older utilities used 70w lights, so I have seen them before...
