In the pic you can see the crack in the middle of the slipfitter area before the "step".Also the one slipfitter clamp bolt threads in the top housing casting is broken off,and the nut of one of the J bolts I used to suspend the fixture is visible.The hinge part on the top housing was broken off too so I made a metal piece for the ballast door to mount to.Note the large ignitor I used to replace the plug-in type GE ignitor that was lost in the impact.
Still a pretty nice conversion/repair job though, the M-400A3 would have gotten scrapped otherwise. And somehow I think cobraheads look better than most other growlights.
Yeah, i like the idea of using powerdoor cobraheads as growlights. When you want to switch to MH from HPS, switch the door and lamp. Way cheaper than a MH/HPS ballast and still easiy to switch lamp types.
