Are you aware that in this picture takes place where he works? In fact.....he probably sees hundreds and hundreds and thousands of fixtures trashed???

Couldn't it get recycled at least Rolling Eyes

My electrical company has a refurbishing shop...but unfortuantly...for cobraheads....most often its the newer fixtures that get refurbished.....they don't have room to do the older ones...from what I'm told...
gailgrove   [Oct 03, 2010 at 06:24 PM]
I meant sent to a scrap yard, not sent to the landfill since that seems to be happing here Confused
mercuryvaporrocks   [Oct 03, 2010 at 11:06 PM]
My power company only reuses newer fixtures, not old ones except for the refractors.
GullWhiz   [Nov 08, 2010 at 02:53 PM]
Also note....he said the parts were removed just the fixture body was thrown out...

I saw a few powrdoors from trashed GEs in rlshieldjrs shop. I remember at least one was 200w, another was 400w. I tried to find the date codes on the modules but the tags didn't have them. The ballasts are pretty big.

Our trash company does recycle scrap metal brought in to its yard, including bottles and cans that we in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia pay a deposit (TAX) on and they keep the money.

Thats good, while I am definitely not one of those crazy eco-people one thing I can't stand to see is metal going to the landfill Mad
GullWhiz   [Nov 12, 2010 at 03:17 AM]
Hey I am the same thing....I want to recycle as much as possible...if its recycleable I WILL RECYCLE IT! If the soda can holders are not cut...I do not want gulls getting stuck in them so I will cut them and properly dispose of them keeping the gulls safe!

My county I live in has the "State of Art" recycling program, so they recycle almost all kinds of plastics and metals! We don't even need to separate cans and glass...they all go in one bin including papers...and the recycling company does the rest!

Its the same here Jace, we a few years ago we built a $ 30 million waste centre, everything goes in one bin and we also have composting collected at the curb, and what little waste is left from that is incinerated is a state-of-the-art incinerator that puts out practically now pollution and generates electricity, BTW the new waste centre has new Cooper OV-25s at it Very Happy
