The guts of the Ultimate Ballast Box!
GailGrove has asked if I could post the insides of the ballast box, no problem!!!

Here it is. I did my best to wire it neatly since there is some hard to reach places and all. Some of you may have remembered someone made an external ballast box consist of three 1000 watt MH and one 180 watt LPS ballast. This one here is a bit more spacier though. I have included a fan, although I had to bend blades so it could blow IN!

I am currently having some issues with the 39 watt ballast.

Ingenious layout! I see you have long threaded go through several ballast from one end of the box to another end of the box. I take it that is your cram box Laughing

You guys also see two F-can ballasts in the bottom of the box.....which are 70 watt HPS and 100 watt MV! Also it is not as crammed as another one I have seen from another website!

Love it! Great work. Lots of ballasts! And very spacey too =)

how hot does the inside get with all the Ballasts running for an extended period of time?

Nice job, I like how the ballasts are mounted and the neat wiring inside.

Apparently the 39 watt CMH ballast I have had died.....I remember once it tripped my GFCI......oh well...electronics are sensitive!

Was that 39w ballast from me? You killed it! LOL
Medved   [Jan 27, 2010 at 07:57 PM]
@Gull: I think you overheated it there. But tripping GFCI - that is strange. Look inside, if insulating foils between power devices and their heatsink are not melted. If yes, replace them and try the ballast again...

As of now, I am rebuilding this thing, it will be easier to access and it will have less wires too!

By the way Jace...if you wanted the Fan to Blow Inwards why didnt you just Flip the Blade Over as a Whole?...instead of Bending the Blades?
GullWhiz   [Jun 26, 2010 at 12:04 PM]
i couldn't in this case.....didn't want to mess with the system too much....the way the blades are mounted and the plastic washer attached to the motor was sorta in a junky way using plastic and screws for pressure instead of metallic washers and screws.....but the new design I made see here is in a much better way although same design fan but different motor and fan is used....but I had to bend some blades in deeper angle for better blowing though..
