Here's a 70w CFL that's intended to be used in a fluorescent yardlight like this one , I don't have the proper ballast for it but it was pretty bright when I tested it on a F32T8 ballast with the outputs paralleled. The lamp is around 8 1/8" or 245mm long, the largest CFL in my collection (doesn't look that compact to me ).
