I've seen a few those in the same Home Hardware I bought my IQ lamps in, but they were 55$ each, ouch!

$55?! That's too much even in Canadian dough! I got this at a Restore for something like $3.

BTW, does sylvania/Osram still make cobaheads?
joe_347V   [Jan 31, 2011 at 12:21 AM]
They don't, at least for the Canadian market, they sold off the fixtures division after '93 when GTE Sylvania was acquired by Osram. The lumes themselves were made up to the early 2000's though.

Actually I think Sylvania made streetlights well into the 90s. If I'm right OSRAM sold that streetlighting divison to Thomas & Betts in ... '98 or so, I think.

Here's a archived Powerlite page, staying that Powerlite was sold off by Sylvania in '93 to the Kaufel Group. Wink

You are right about the Kaufel Group being bought in '98 though.

EDIT: If the link dosen't work try this one.

Sweet, they had their own laboratory! No wonder those streetlights were quite decent! Too bad it's all gone today...
GullWhiz   [Jan 31, 2011 at 01:21 AM]
Apparently Powerlites weren't thinking GREED!
