Redundant Array of Independant Luminaires
|
A couple of lumes on Highway 7 have adopted the Redundant Array of Independent Luminaires system (R.A.I.L.) The advantages of this system is the redundancy offered by utilising an array of indpendantly ballasted lumes so that if one fails the RAIL controller will automatically switch to the other lume. The lumes are connected to a special RAIL controller using the SATA (Streetlight Assessment and Testing Array) interface.
The next lume, a Powerlite B2255 also has the RAIL system installed:
Well actually both lumes are being replaced but the odd thing is they replaced the poles and put the old lumes back on and now they decide to replace the lumes.

This bus lane project is going to mean the end of a lot of nice B2255, AE 25, OV 25 FCO lights. I just hope they don't put flattened sticks up when they're done since the rendering depicts lumes that look vaguely like them.
