I have the Sortie one securely screwed to the studs using a very shallow receptacle box, you can see the fixture isn't totally flushed. The masking tape idea is temporary....
The other exit signs will get powered sometime soon.
What's wrong? What code am I violating? This wire is simply a lamp plug in type that is used for hanging ceiling lights. It plugs into the outlet that is just 18 inches or so away from the door. I am using a receptacle box that is shallow. It is not inside the wall, but mounted outside of the wall and the wire enters the receptacle box, then it goes through the mounting bracket of the fixture and it is wired with the socket using wire nuts. There is also a switch on the cord. I only have the tape temporarily taped on the frame to prevent the wire being in the way of the door. Any codes am I breaking? If so then give me the number of the code Niall!
I use the same taping method for the cord powering my exit sign, but I use transparent Scotch Magic Tape.
Well technically there would be specifics rules to follow for the exit sign installation. For instance any exit sign must be on its own separate circuit. But here it's a special application, so the most important rules to follow are those related to safety.
You need to use Duct tape to pass code................
I was doing low flying through the kasie last week, saw 8 illegal connections in use. Single bare wire, earth return, insulated by tree and bush. These were just the ones across the road.

EDIT: Who the hell rated the pic 0/5??
