Recycling a PL fluorescent made made for electronic ballasts - Now for preheaters!
|
This is a weirdo ~ 7000K fluorescent tube. It originally had a 1000V 2nF capacitor wired between the lamp cathodes. I removed the cap and installed a glowtube from a spent 13W PL lamp (with probably working cathodes, but corroded tube leads in the base). I'll never know the actual wattage of the lamp, but it works like a charm in a 9W PL ballast.

I found the lamp inside a sort of fake aquarium toy thingy. The electronic ballast was cooked, so I salvaged the lamp. I was surprised by the actual colour of the tube. I expected a cool white tube LOL
