This was the best find on my trip, a Westinghouse OV14B! I have never actually seen one before this trip but I saw two on my trip to Montreal, unfortunately this was the best shot I could get of one of them.
Very nice indeed! They don't seem to be that common here, the B2217 and the mini gumballs seemed to be more common for residential streets at the time.
oh. I don't know what either of them look like. I've never seen any good side shots of them. I know the OV12 you enter from the top for the ballast and the refractor is on a ring like the OV10.
The OV-14B was also sold in USA (and made in USA) but wasn't used or made as much as Canada...they were a LOT more popular in Canada.
The OV-14B is the FIRST small sized cobrahead ever made, came out in 1957. The OV-12 is newer and was only in USA as far as I know made in around 1960. I have all the fixtures OV-14B, OV-12 and OV-10
Here's a pic of an OV-14B and OV-12 (on the far left) next to each other with the other "Silverliner" fixtures see right right here also I have a picture of them opened see here for opened pics
OV-14B basically looks like a smaller version of the old OV-25 flattie. The OV-12 basically looks more like a miniature version of OV-50!
I know that Toronto used a lot of incandescent mini gumballs on residential streets around that time but I really haven't seen a OV14B in use anywhere. It's possible that they used them on select streets as a test but I haven't found any pics of them yet.
