Ramp Meter Signals
|
Here's a shot of a pair of 8" signals used for ramp metering on the QEW's Toronto bound onramps in the Mississauga area. They're only used to control traffic entering the freeway during weekday mornings, otherwise they stay green. Here's some more info on the MTO site.

Also those signals are 12-8-8 inch signals and below the 12-8-8 there are red/green (No yellow) 8 inch signals with just two heads (top red and bottom green) together facing inward for people in the cars to see it clearly. I need a pic of one.
I've occasionally seen regular 12-8-8s used in place of the 8" signals but the 8" heads are more common, some also have 3M adapters on them too.
The setup in your area sounds interesting and I would like to see a pic of them.

Downtown Detroit pulled its Metering system out about 10 years ago. It never worked to my knowledge. The signals were there, but the system wasn't in place. All the heads were R/G 8" Eagle plastic.
I can set up metering features on my controller
