There aren't too many of them anymore. But there are more of them then there are B2213's and B2255's.. The 410 used to have a Unidoor at Bovaird on a pole fab tapered eliptical arm. Its been gone for a while now though. IIRC the 400 around Black creek has some unidoors in use
Yeah, in Brampton when Hurontario St was Highway 10 back before the 1990's, the intersection of Sandalwood Parkway was signalized with MTO polefab poles with Unidors on them too!
It was odd seeing that 1 Unidor at hwy 10. They took down the Unidors then put inCrouse-hinds OV-15's but now they've OVX'd every single OV-15 from north of Sandalwood all the way to hwy 7. It made me angry that they replaced all those OV-15's they were probably all fine, unless they were on a group relay and all failed.
Yeah, I rolled my eyes at that mass OVX relamping on highway 10/Hurontario in 2012. The OV-15's they replaced were MTO installed 200W HPS though, so it seems that wattage bacame hard to support further. They did skip spot replacements along the stretch though! (AEL 115s and some Powerlite R47's!)
Yeah Queen street used to have OV-15's from the highway all the way to airport road before the widening and IIRC thats where some of the first OVX's to show up here but I think the polefab poles originally held Model 25's and they replaced them with OV-15's. I like the long stretches of OV-15's but it is too bad that they removed 80-95% of them. Yeah the wattages on the powerlites there are 250 thats probably why they skipped them if the OV-15's were 200w.
You have any old photos of roads in Brampton as early as Y2K such as Queen street/Highway 7?
ah, I wasn't taking pictures back then. But my memory serves me very well on Brampton happenings far back as 1992 if you have any questions on projects or how things used to be! Yeah I was like 5 years old in 92.
The only old pics of roads in Brampton I've found are these 410 pics and some pics of Hwy 7 from the mid 90s. You can see a bunch of Polefabs with OV-15s and AE 25s in the 2nd set of pics. And maybe some R47s too.
It seems the lights in my part of York Region haven't changed much compared to Brampton, we still have a bunch of OV-25s, McGraws and old Powerlites from the 70s still in use. My guess is we converted to HPS fairly early.
Yeah I have seen those ones. All our polefabs are gone on Hwy 7, except for the ones at the 410. I vaguely remember there were double guy arms and 8-8-8's at Bramalea rd. Yeah there were some powerlites mixed in. I don't think we have any lights older than the 80's anymore.
Yeah, the oldest streetlights here are old merc refits from the 60s (B2217, Unistyle 175 and 400). York Region sometimes still uses Polefabs at intersections.
Earliest here for merc retrofits would be late 70's at the earliest . Our B2255's were converted but unfortunately they have been plagued the last few years. I only know of about 8 still in existence compared to 18 only 2 years ago.
We only install polefabs at the Highway intersections thats about it.
I guess mine must have been a later one then. It was a Brampton light but it was factory 250w HPS from 10/1980. Markham still has a lot of B2255s but they're being replaced with AEL 125s and OVFs is they need more than a new lamp or PC during maintenance.
