Old Style Gas Pump Display
Here's a old style gas pump display that's rarely seen here now, since our newer gas pumps use backlit LCD displays instead. The displays show from top to bottom: total in CAD, amount of gas in litres, and price in $CAD per litre.

Sorry for the grainy pic, I didn't have my camera with me and I used my iPod instead.

Nixie displays, cool! Cool

I remember many years ago that some pump did even have incandescent 7-segement displays version.

I remember seeing a lot of those back then, and Joe...are you CHEAP? Can't afford more than 4.06?

Not Nixie, Panaflat. I have some from an old NCR cash register around somewhere. These use a rod as one electrode, the other being a conductive ITO coating on the display cover.

I don't know what gas is here offhand because i can't drive yet. But in Niagra Falls, Canada the gas was 1.20 a liter, so that's almost 5 bucks a gallon! Plus the currency exchange (1US Dollar=0.95 Canadian Dollar) Rolling Eyes

I have some old electronic device (unknown purpose, seemingly home made) that uses this beautiful display type. Here the gas price is about 14 SEK / L which is over 8 USD/ us gal..

I know of a few pumps like this. @ Michael Yeah, annoyingly everything cost more here than in the States, it's actually becoming a rather big issue considering our dollar is worth more and it is becoming cheaper for some things to go to the USA to shop.

Yeah even lamps and light fixtures are cheaper in the US than up here...although we still get 175w MV yardlights. Razz
