Here's a shot of the feeder cable for a streetlight, not sure why they didn't use the wire hole opting instead to run the wire under the arm baseplate.
Yeah probably being lazy again, well at least they used the correct arm for wood poles. I've seen them use the arms for concrete poles on wood poles before which have a narrower baseplate and tends to dig into the wood pole after a few years.
Well the manufactures of the arms claim those arms can be used on wooden poles. I would have to debate that it even takes longer to feed the wire through the bottom pole.
I've seen a tapered E arm that the welding at the baseplate broke loose. All that was left was the mounting plate. Talk about scarey. The other lights around it were 250w HPS M-250R2s on 8 foot tapered E arms.
The pole didn't look hit. it was an older pole, so i don't think it would have survived an inpact strong enough to break the welding. The mounting bracket was replaced with a 250w HPS M-250R2 on a 6 foot upsweep arm.
They did the same thing on my street corner, Thers a reason for that wire grommet. The bottom lag goes through the center of the base plat on it too I'm suprised they didn't pound it through the feeds.
