AEL 315
Located in Holyoke, MA. Holyoke seems to be back with the AEL models again. This just replaced a 250 watt HPS M-400A during the last week. These are my favorite fixtures used by HG&E and hopefully I'll see more of these used.

Some lumes to get good luck and will last a long time without needing a new lamp.
Antstar85   [Oct 10, 2011 at 04:53 AM]
Most utilities around here are using small HPS lumes up to 250 watt. HG&E will either use M-400A3s or 315s in 400 watts.

Our utility used 400w OVXs for a while, I guess the frequent lamp failures made them use medium for 400w lamps. Rolling Eyes

We've never used 400w small fixtures. 50-250w is small (M-250R2 and sometimes OVZ) and 400w is always an M-400.

Holyoke briefly used 250 watt OVXs but most I've seen put up have already failed or cycled. The M-250A2s and 315s seem to last the longest out of all the fixtures used. Westfield uses 400 watt OVXs and they usually cycle in less than a year.

We don't use the OVX period. The OVX doesn't have a purpose IMO. If you want 200-400w drop lens, use the OVD. If you want 175w or lower, use the OVZ. The OVX is sort of like the "third wheel" in my view. Confused
Antstar85   [Oct 10, 2011 at 10:05 PM]
National Grid in my area has used 400 watt OVXs during thier Cooper phase.
streetlight98   [Oct 10, 2011 at 10:12 PM]
I've seen the OVZ and one or two OVH, but never a OVX here. The very few OVH i saw were all 100w HPS, while the OVZ was 50, 100, and 250w. Now we only use GE and very seldom do i see a OVZ.
Antstar85   [Oct 10, 2011 at 11:00 PM]
OVX's and OVZ's are quite rare in NG territory but they have been used. The Only cooper lights I've seen on NU poles are the ones that the cities bought from the company and the city maintains the fixtures, like the LED lights in my fathers town.

I've seen a fair amount of OVZ near me. The newest being installed in 2009

As of this date, this fixture still exist but for how long?
streetlight98   [May 25, 2012 at 08:42 PM]
Hopefully at least until it needs to be serviced. Neutral

This light has officially been changed to a 183 watt, LEOTEK GC1-80c.

[sighs...] Sad Mad Rolling Eyes

This light barely made it over a year old. Mad something that I now find odd is on the existing HPS fixtures still up is that the city are installing the Green LED PC's on fixtures. I saw a M-400A the other day with one. Laughing Rolling Eyes
streetlight98   [Jan 28, 2013 at 09:54 PM]
Laughing I thought the LED photocells could only be used with electronic ballasts/drivers?
Antstar85   [Jan 29, 2013 at 01:08 AM]
Thought so to but there in HPS fixtures.
joe_347V   [Jan 29, 2013 at 01:48 AM]
Anyone know what's exactly different about a LED PC, I would assume the relays used with HID PCs should switch LED fixtures fine too.
Mercuryvapor123   [Jan 29, 2013 at 02:51 PM]
Yea I'm using a standard electromecanical Fisher Pierce pc on my LED fixture and it works fine.
Antstar85   [Jan 29, 2013 at 08:53 PM]
The Test LED fixtures my company installed, We just used the regular Electronic Suntech controls we normally use and they are working just fine.
