Soon to Be Replaced AE 125s
|
Here's a pair of AE 125s that's scheduled for removal because of road widening. But looking at the poor condition of the old concrete pole it's bound to happen sooner or later. The old pole probably held a pair of B2213s back in the mercury days.

My place of work has a view of the whole junction, so I'm keepijg tabs on it. The contractor is also responsible for the new municipal highway overpass, and they relamped it with modern 400W OVX's on 50' poles (OVX's even on provincial off ramp signals!). Funny thing is when they installed the remainder of these poles this spring, they left them without luminaires. I'm betting the city told them to hold off since the city is converting to LED, but no 400W equivalents have been used in the city yet. So this overpass could be the first around Toronto to have the highest/brightest LED's!
What a non aesthetic light!
Personally I think changing everything is a waste of money especially if the LEDs turn out to be junk and they're forced to put HID back up again.
He told me the old CGE 8-8-8s are being removed too which makes me think Mississauga is moving away from 8-8-8 signals (they've been retrofitted to LED already) altogether. Well at least the ones at Cawthra/South Service Road and Dixie/Lakeshore won't be changed out yet.
I also passed by the 401/403/410 area today and I noticed that the truss poles and the R47s they held were taken down. It would be funny if MTO was reading this thread and taking down all the missouts we find.
Anyway, I think FCO HPS need closer spaced poles too so they could always fall back to a York Region style install with 250w FCO HPS if the LEDs prove to be a dud.
Also if you guys are up for a drive, visit the new Cambridge service centre that recently opened, they have a couple of LED highmast poles lighting up the truck parking.
I know that was very strange! I bet they were reading this.
They are the same distance away as the aluminum and old concrete poles that are still there.
Il have to go by one day
UPDATE: the remaining lumeless arms on Hurontario over the 401 have followed suit and are fitted with new 400W OVX's
