My newest addition: Cooper OVX!
Drop lens too! I scored on this one. So Jace, I have an OVX now. xD ANd I didn't need yours. That's why I said you can give it to Aaron, cause one, he doesn't have a cobrahead and he deserves one, and two, OVX's weren't hard to find in Denver area. xD I scored better too cause it has a Drop lens. (Acrylic plastic though, but I am fine. xD)

I am gonna test this soon, I bet it still works, everything looks in good condition.

Found this on the side of the road (near where I took pics of that OVH on the ground), a Davit pole and in like.. Nowhere, I got it and they let me take it. I saved this old buddy from being scrapped.

Now I got what has been on my wanted list for a while: An OVX.

I am not sure, All the refractor says on it is "Crouse Hinds" And This has been in service with 250 watts HPS for years now.

In fact I found this exact light in STREET VIEW

Cool, you finally got one. Cool

Although why did they use a plastic refractor with 250w lamps, especially since this is a small lume. I personally would have used glass instead.
LilCinnamon   [Dec 22, 2011 at 12:48 AM]
So would I. I would of wanted another glass refractor as well. xD

Also I lit this baby up, works like a charm. I need to give it a good cleaning though... But it's snowy outside so I can't. xD Or I will freeze myself to death.

It is arcrylic.....arcrylic CAN yellow, just takes a LOT longer to...so Ian is right, it is arcrylic...I've seen 150 watt getS yellowed on OVZs after like 20 years of service....
LilCinnamon   [Dec 22, 2011 at 01:47 AM]
Cooper never used Polycarbonate right?

I think my AE refractor (currently on my 113 but from my 115 from Darren) Actually I KNOW my AE refractor is Polycarbonate, and somehow it has absolutely no yellowing.
GullWhiz   [Dec 22, 2011 at 01:53 AM]
How many watt is the AE, usually 100 watt and below won't yellow at all...and for 100 watt MV will take forever to yellow....we have 100 watt MVs with poly plastic and never yellowed
LilCinnamon   [Dec 22, 2011 at 01:56 AM]
Funny thing is... My AE is 150 watts (Both of my 115's are 150 watt HPS) and no yellowing at all, but used WAY less in service than the 100 watt HPS M-250 R2 (that I only got parts of from Darren) had a yellower refractor. But that's because of the years in use.

The M-250 R2 is acrylic, and used since my birth probably. xD And the other was made in 2008.. So I can see why there. xD
streetlight98   [Dec 22, 2011 at 11:52 AM]
Yes, cooper HAS used polycarbonate lenses. How can you tell for sure this is acrylic? The polycarbonate lens looks identical to the acrylic one minus polycarbonate is harder and yellows.

It's the shape, the pattern and the color that allows me to know its aryclic! We have them here but on OVZs (and OVCs) and I've held onto one before it's aryclic, they are thinner too

The hinge on this thing bothers me. No wonder people end up breaking these things, the hinge is so poorly designed that it loves to go in the wrong places and it makes it harder to get out.
GullWhiz   [Dec 22, 2011 at 06:15 PM]
When you open it...if side up on floor...grab the slipfitter of the door end and lift it up same time opening door and be sure to c completly remove the door...if you don't......snap! Opening it from a pole with door down has less chance of breaking then having the fixture on floor which makes it easy to break......
LilCinnamon   [Dec 22, 2011 at 06:40 PM]
Yeah I know. I have been very careful. I don't want this OVX to end up like my OVH door. xD (I didn't break the OVH door, it was that way when I found it as you see in the "Pile of lights" Picture.

The new hinge design I guess would open just like my OVZ since my OVZ has the new hinge design.
joe_347V   [Dec 22, 2011 at 07:37 PM]
Hmm can anyone here post some closeups of the hinge showing the differences?

The NEMA tag is really worn off. I really wonder how it got that way. o.o
joe_347V   [Dec 26, 2011 at 12:13 AM]
They tend to get brittle over the years and when the glue starts to fail it will start flaking off.
LilCinnamon   [Dec 26, 2011 at 12:15 AM]
Glue doesn't "Fail" xDD

Anway, It's funny how my OVH's original NEMA tag is in much better shape than this one, and it's MUUCH older, Okay.. Just by a few years but still.
joe_347V   [Dec 26, 2011 at 12:23 AM]
I've seen it before especially on those old fluorescent fixtures, one touch of the tag and it falls completely off.
