What the heck?! Where has this world come to?
My OVX.. FCO?! I know you all hate the look of the OVX without a drop lens, but I had to do this. xD

I put my extra OVH glass (The OVH glass after this is gonna be on my M-250 R2) on this and made it an FCO!

I dunno why you guys think this is ugly without drop lens, I think it looks pretty good this way. I PREFER drop lens, but I like it this way too.

The only thing that distorts the look is that big leveling thing on the bottom. The OVS didn't have that.

What is the Level on the bottom for? Don't they have on on the TOP?

So wouldn't the OVF/Y/D. But since the OV-15 and OV-25 aren't cataloged, utilities won't buy them. Cooper should post a catalog for them IMO.

The design uses more metal, and they probably are expensive anyway.

They might release them, I am not sure. Sure enough Texas Department of Transportation knows about them.
streetlight98   [Dec 27, 2011 at 02:04 AM]
Well, they've been making them for some time. If they were gonna release them, they probably would've by now... Neutral

Good point.

But I DO Bet those OV-25's have cycling issues. The FCO's at least use the OVF/D/Y's reflectors, and also even if they still used the older design reflectors, they would be of the new material so that would have cycling issues as well.

I wonder how the OV-25's in Texas do...

I believe the ones here use the old design reflectors, and I'm not sure but they look like they might cycle more than the Powerlites especially the more recent ones.

The Cooper OV-25's there are probably older than the ones in Texas, so they have the older style reflector. But I am not sure if they used the same reflector for both drop and FCO...

What are the reflectors made out of on these anyway?
joe_347V   [Jan 21, 2012 at 04:46 PM]
They probably were since I think they stopped installing them in 2005-6.
LilCinnamon   [Jan 21, 2012 at 09:27 PM]
I wonder if those had cycling issues..

Do the OVD/OVF/OVY's have cycling issues for 250 watt or above?
Antstar85   [Jan 21, 2012 at 09:45 PM]
There are OVY's on route 2 in Connecticut and they have been up for about 3 years and they seem to all still be working just fine.
LilCinnamon   [Jan 22, 2012 at 01:36 PM]
I guess the OVY's aren't as bad.. I guess it's because of the more space in the fixture.

The new OVF's they installed on 285 and wadsworth.. We will see how those do as they still work and all of them are dayburners.

I think they should update the OVX, OVZ, and OVH/G reflectors to make it less prone to cycle...
streetlight98   [Jan 22, 2012 at 08:05 PM]
While the OVF is cyclign prone, I've noticed that it has the most even light distribution I have ever seen for a FCO fixture. The OVF lit highways (assuming most are working) here are much more evenly lit than the M-400 FCO lit highways here. Both seem to have bad cyclign issues and I personally think the OVF looks better than the M-400 FCO. The M-400 drop lens looks better than the OVD any day though.
HPSM250R2   [Jan 22, 2012 at 08:22 PM]
The OVF is my favorite medium wattage cobrahead. I have also noticed how evenly the OVF lights the road.
streetlight98   [Jan 22, 2012 at 08:32 PM]
I wonder if using coated lamps would reduce cycling issues at least some?
LilCinnamon   [Jan 31, 2012 at 01:48 PM]
The NEMA tag is really wearing off on this thing. It's coming off piece by piece. Yet the numbers are still just fine.

How did the NEMA tag get so.. Wore down?
GullWhiz   [Jan 31, 2012 at 01:50 PM]
I don't hate the FCO OVX
LilCinnamon   [Jan 31, 2012 at 01:52 PM]
Yay Jace. xD I actually like the FCO OVX. It looks fine in my opinion. I prefer the FCO than the drop lens. Even with glass. I dunno what everyone doesn't like about it. xD
gailgrove   [Jan 31, 2012 at 01:54 PM]
It looks UGLY!
LilCinnamon   [Jan 31, 2012 at 01:56 PM]
That's your opinion. xD We all have different opinions. You are entitled to yours. To me it's not ugly, to you it is. xD

But this is better than the Durastar in your opinion riight? xD
joe_347V   [Jan 31, 2012 at 02:17 PM]
Eh they both look oddly shaped to me, and how did this pic get 33 comments. Shocked

Time to call this the "OVX Thread". Laughing
LilCinnamon   [Jan 31, 2012 at 02:20 PM]
At least this doesn't have 80 comments like the other one did. It won't get that high. xD

But I still like this OVX as FCO, that's how I have it right now. xD
