What the heck?! Where has this world come to? My OVX.. FCO?! I know you all hate the look of the OVX without a drop lens, but I had to do this. xD I put my extra OVH glass (The OVH glass after this is gonna be on my M-250 R2) on this and made it an FCO! I dunno why you guys think this is ugly without drop lens, I think it looks pretty good this way. I PREFER drop lens, but I like it this way too. The only thing that distorts the look is that big leveling thing on the bottom. The OVS didn't have that. What is the Level on the bottom for? Don't they have on on the TOP? Hmm, I personally think it looks too bulgy without the drop lens installed, maybe if it was slimmer....

The levelling pad on the bottom is to mount the optional level to, almost all lights these days have them, even my Model 25 from the 80's has one.

All model 25's have them except for the first generation. BOTH my model 25's have them, my OVZ has one, Both of my M-400 R3's.. I think that's it out of my collection.

I agree with Ian, it would make more sense to install the level on the top, where it's flatter so this ugly mound isn't on the door. The OVX and OVS designs are ruined by those ugly level mounts. The only GE cobrahead that I can think of that has a level mount is the current M-400. The door is flat, so the mount doesn't stick out and look ugly. Strange how some lumes (OVX, OVZ) have the pad while others (OVH/G) don't.

Ehh I never really liked the bottom mounted leveling pads, I like top mounted ones better, and plus you can level the lume with the door off...something you can't do with bottom leveling pads.

My Powerlites both have top leveling pads.

All lights have top leveling pads. This OVX has one as well. As well as all my fixtures.

If the OVX has a leveling pad on the top housing, then why is there one of the door? Confused

Guys it's not a leveling pad! It is a place to mount the optional level that the factory will install, you do not level the fixture from the pad on the bottom...

Anyway. Back to this light,

I think the OVX looks more boxy as FCO, Don't you guys think? I do still prefer the OVX FCO then drop lens, it just looks better in my opinion.

Why did Cooper design the OVX so boxy? The OVM and OVS even look a bit boxy! Not as boxy as the OVX but still a little bit.

Well, they're spins off of the last Westinghouse lines. The L-150 and L-250. I still think the older designs should be introduced, but that surely won't happen...

At least Cooper still MAKES the older designs (OV-25 and OV-15). They probably don't put them out on the normal catalog because they are more expensive to make than the ones ON the catalog. So they keep it on special order. You could just probably contact Cooper to buy those OV-25's and they will sell them, that's how Texas gets them. They just don't have them on the catalog.

Yeah I'm sure Cooper has cut down the cost by eliminating anything and everythign they can to simplify the design...

I bet alot of utility companies don't even know the OV-25 still exists. The HPS OV-25's would probably be more reliable than the HPS OVX's in my opinion.

So wouldn't the OVF/Y/D. But since the OV-15 and OV-25 aren't cataloged, utilities won't buy them. Cooper should post a catalog for them IMO.

The design uses more metal, and they probably are expensive anyway.

They might release them, I am not sure. Sure enough Texas Department of Transportation knows about them.

Well, they've been making them for some time. If they were gonna release them, they probably would've by now... Neutral

Good point.

But I DO Bet those OV-25's have cycling issues. The FCO's at least use the OVF/D/Y's reflectors, and also even if they still used the older design reflectors, they would be of the new material so that would have cycling issues as well.

I wonder how the OV-25's in Texas do...

I believe the ones here use the old design reflectors, and I'm not sure but they look like they might cycle more than the Powerlites especially the more recent ones.

The Cooper OV-25's there are probably older than the ones in Texas, so they have the older style reflector. But I am not sure if they used the same reflector for both drop and FCO...

What are the reflectors made out of on these anyway?
