My latest baby! Internals shown
The internal view. There's the big 3 coil regulated lag ballast Caltrans loves. Theres the old PCB containing capacitor dated 1978. And there's the crude ignitor wrapped in cardboard. Everything works, but it needs cleaning BAD as you can obviously see!

Well what do you think guys?

Sweet Find! I always liked these fixtures, especially the MV ones. Was the gasket off when you got it?

Very nice light, there used to be 200 watt high pressure sodium versions of these on the turnpike in Hampton , PA.

@Tony yep the gasket is all shot it was placed outdoors for long enough. I will clean it up good Wink

@Alex how common are 200w HPS lights in PA? Thats a rather obscure wattage found in only a few parts of the country. For example in New England, in the recent trip there I saw only 250w and 400w on main roads and highways. I saw one 200w HPS in MA though. I have seen many 200w HPS in California and Florida.

@Dave 200 watt high pressure sodium street lights are very common in West Penn Power's area in PA. Duquesne Light used to install 200 watt high pressure sodium street lights in the city back when they maintained the street lights there from 2001-2007.

Very common in my area too! It's the 3rd most common wattage, 100W being the 1st by far, 400W in 2nd and 200W a close 3rd. 150Ws are somewhere between uncommon and uncommon, and 250Ws are scarce.

For some strange reason, my power company replaces defective 250 watt mercury vapor street lights with 200 watt high pressure sodium ones.

Nice light! We have a good amount of 200w HPS lumes in my area too, 150w HPS seems to be the least common wattage used here.

Dave, if this has a 120v tap can you please wire it to an extension cord and show it lit after it's cleaned up please? Thanks:)
