old street light arm installed by former electric utility "calectric".
here's an arm style you never see in ventura county, los angeles county, etc. the inland empire east of the los angeles area once had a utility called california electric power co, known as calectric for short, southern california edison took over calectric in 1964. loma linda, ca is full of the old calectric arms and power poles. besides this style, there are long A frame arms that are straight rather than angled. i notice much of the calectric arms have these long rods that hold the wire insulator, edison's arms just have a small insulator right on the arm.

i wonder what light was here prior to the GE. What wattage is this? I can see the yellow tag but not the number...

i think it was originally some kind of incandescent, then changed out to mercury vapor, most likely a ge M250A. the current fixture is 70w hps.

We saw a lot of old arms with raised insulators like this one.

not only that, but many of the poles still have old tags from the calectric days. they are marked "CEP" for "california electric power" in addition to the pole number.

Ahh that's likere here. There are a few really ancient looking poles with NET&T Co (New England Telephone and Telegraph Company) with NECo tags added. NGrid only adds their tags on new poles and they had actually used the NECo tags until the mid 2000s. When they changed the poles on my street back in the mid 2000s they didn't use any tags, just pole numbers IIRC... I'll have to check lol. Poles missing IDtags remain tagless. For new poles NGrid uses square plates that simply say "NG" on them. our old pole munbers were really small but the newer ones are larger and in times new roman.
