Newest addition to my street light collection - M400R2 310w HPS Rick (rlshieldjr) very nicely gave me this GE M400R2 FCO fixture during his visit. It's a Caltrans specification fixture that was once used on Azusa Ave (Highway 39) in the city he works for. Maintenance of the lights was transferred to the city, then this came down during a road/signal upgrade. It is a multi-volt fixture with a massive 3 coil ballast. The fixture still works, was made in May 1991, and came with a GE LU310 bulb made in November 2000. The GE M400A is a 400w merc that I have had for over 10 years. Keywords: American_Streetlights

Look guys, see this Powerdoor here has a big latch and a screw....that's a powerdoor..

If it did not have the big latch or a screw but a small stainless steel clip, that's a split door!

Nice flood Dave...what flood is it? I have a HPS 150 watt cram lamp flood!

NiMo, I saw in the other discussion that '77 GE M400As have the latch, so this is a late 70s model? It doesn't have a NEMA tag though.

Jace, that flood is a Hubbell, it is a 250w MH but currently has a merc.

@ Jace, not all splitdoors have a latch instead of a screw. Mine JUST has a screw.

yeah 310 watts is rare. Even better that it came with a lamp so you can operate it. Smile

I have a question and I was hoping someone could help me answer it, I got a wall pack light and the site said it is HPS and even gave me a HPS lamp for it. but the ballast inside says PSMH, Is it ok to use a HPS lamp in it ?

@traffic light1: My understanding is that while it may physically light, the voltage/current ratings between MH & HPS lamps are different enough that you'll be overdriving something...end result being its not good for the ballast.

Did they let you keep the PSMH wall pack too? As for whether the HPS lamp will work properly, it depends on the wattage. A 200-400W HPS may work on the same wattage PSMH gear but the voltage spec is not correct so lamp life could be shortened. What are the wattages of both?
